I know that copywriting might not be the most glamorous part of your website, often over-shadowed by kick-ass images and great products and services, but well-written copy can have the same effect as a vibrant banner or colourful gallery.
Your brand’s tone of voice and message has the ability to connect with your audience in a way images can’t, so it’s important to have clear, concise copy which not only informs your audience, but entertains and delights them. Trust me!
I’ve always had a way with words - cliché, I know. But it’s true!
Growing up, I always had an interest in human behaviour but felt I was too creative to become a psychologist (despite there being two in my family - it must run in my blood). Marketing was the natural choice for me - influencing behaviour with creativity.
Since I graduated from a Bachelor of Communications, I have been working with businesses to create content with purpose.
I started in a lifestyle company, moved to a digital agency, and am now working with one of the biggest Australian brands to create content for their website and stores (hint; they do stationery and office supplies. Yes, that big brand).
I’ll be honest: I didn’t choose the copywriter life, the copywriter life chose me. I always wanted to be a marketing coordinator but always fell into a copywriting role. And what did I find? I was bloody good at it. I loved writing and found I could really make a difference to the marketing campaigns I worked on.
I should have known I would end up a copywriter. At school I was the go-to for forging notes. I could mimic the tone of voice, and hand-writing, of a parent (sorry mum).
Copywriting is so much more than just writing words. It’s about creating the right content to capture your audience’s attention and draw them in. It’s about finding creative ways to provide your audience with valuable information, which is, after all, why they came to your website in the first place, and it’s about connecting with them to create that all important action; a conversion (or having a teacher excuse you from PDHPE).

The smell after rain
People that don't indicate
The lack of size diversity in the media
People who call people “snowflakes”
Not knowing the difference between bought and brought
